What is a Dengue NS1 Antigen Test?
The Dengue NS1 Antigen test is a specialized blood test used for the early detection of dengue virus infection. NS1 stands for Non-Structural Protein 1 — a protein that the dengue virus secretes into a patient's blood during the initial phase of infection. The NS1 test is the most reliable way to confirm dengue at the very onset of illness, as this antigen is detectable as early as Day 1 of fever — often before the body has started producing antibodies (IgM/IgG).
